Stargazer is a Mattinson Ten Star Winery.
Only the best of Australia’s best are ranked as a Mattinson Ten Star Winery.

There are few more exciting producers in Australia now than Stargazer, situated at the northern end of Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. The wines are interesting as a baseline; scintillating at their best, the latter routinely achieved with Chardonnay and Riesling in particular but extending across Pinor Noir, Gamay, Pinot Blanc and Gewurztraminer. Stargazer is the ground-up endeavour of Samantha Connew, a formidable winemaker and wine person all round, whose credentials are evident in every bottle but who also, in times past, was the head winemaker at Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale and at Tower Estate in the Hunter Valley, and who was the youngest judge, and first woman, to serve as Chair of Judges at the Sydney Royal Wine Show. The vineyard Connew farms was first planted in 2004 and expanded in 2017 and 2021. This vineyard is roamed by sheep in winter and by chickens all year round. The name of this vineyard is Palisander. These are the bones of a producer of importance.
