Wine Journey in Photos & Moments.

This is an ongoing series of photos that I’ve collected along the way. It’s a pity that I didn’t/haven’t collected more, though this series will be added to regularly. For more examples of my photography interests in general, see Mattinson Photography website.

A wine journey in photos and moments

It’s been a long maceration. I was in to photography as a kid, and then lapsed, and then fell back into it by accident when I was asked to take photographs to accompany news stories in local papers in the 1980s. Given that I’m not a photographer I’ve had an unusually large number of my images appear in print, though most of these are from the dim dark past. When I was taking pictures for local newspapers I had access to both darkroom technicians and real photographers – everything then was of course shot on film – and so I feel, now, the absence of these professionals. There was a time when stock or supplied images in magazines was unusual; every magazine or publication had their own photographers, and indeed usually their own darkrooms. Almost none of the publications I write for now use professional photographers much at all; they rely on supplied artwork and images, and on stock libraries. I have a deep love of photography and an inherent bias to it but I feel that there’s a crushing need in wine, both in Australia and elsewhere, for fresh, unique images to be taken, recorded, crafted and published. This little blog of photos here, which will be wine or wine-related, both directly and loosely, will be my tiny ongoing contribution. This is the start; it will be added to often.
