I took this black and white portrait of Voyager Estate winemaker Tim Shand upstairs at the Supper Club in Melbourne one late afternoon in 2024. The light was great and the chair and table are spot on, but it’s the expression on Tim Shand’s face that makes the picture. So many people, since this image was first published, have come to me and said: that expression is so “Shandy”. I probably took about 15 images of Shand on this occasion, which was about 14 more than he was expecting, and so in this case his expression says to me: are you still going?
Tim Shand is obviously a wonderful winemaker.
