Wickhams Road Yea Valley Pinot Noir 2023: Review

Amazing price for Wickham’s Road Yea Valley Pinot Noir 2023

There’s a 2023 Pinot Noir from Wickhams Road available for $15 this week. That, folks, is a ridiculously good price. This price is for this week only though – next week it goes back to its usual $20, which itself is outstanding value anyway (edit: price is now back to $20).

I like all the Pinot Noirs from Hoddles Creek Estate – the makers of Wickhams Road – top of the range to middle to bottom, and that includes the Wickhams Road range, which can be a bit leaner and more structural but always, also, manages to scratch the Pinot Noir itch. There are three in the range – one each from the Yarra Valley, Gippsland and Yea – all priced at $20, or normally anyway. The $15 #secretnotsecret price is for the Yea Valley version, and it’s available direct from the Hoddles Creek Estate family business, aka Boccaccio Cellars.

Each year I usually prefer the Gippsland of the three Wickhams Road pinots, in the context that I almost always enjoy all three. This year my ranking is Yarra Valley first followed by Gippsland and Yea, though given that I’m 91/100 on the Yea release, we’re splitting hairs. Put it this way: Wickhams Road Yea Pinot Noir 2023 is a 91 point Pinot Noir, made by a producer with a long and impeccable track record of quality Pinot Noir production (Hoddles Creek Estate).

All three of the 2023 Wickhams Road pinot noirs are reviewed by Gary Walsh on The Winefront. His reviews are spot on.

Reccomended?: Yes, absolutely.
Paid: $20.
Pros: Price, style, quality.
Cons: No cons.
