Watkins Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Mattinson review of Watkins Cellar Reserve Shiraz 2017.

Watkins Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
$35, 13.9% alcohol, screwcap, Langhorne Creek.

This wine, at seven years of age, is mellow and soft but there’s still a strength to its fruit, both in flavour and in feel. It tastes of leather, redcurrant, mint and tobacco, with a general “autumnal” feel coming through courtesy of the maturing/ageing process. Velvety tannin – which adds spread to the wine, especially as the wine breathes – is an attractive finishing touch. 90 points.
