Provenance Sinclair Pinot Noir 2023

Mattinson review of Provenance Sinclair Pinot Noir 2023.

Provenance Sinclair Pinot Noir 2023
$120, 13.2% alcohol, cork, Ballarat.

This is a single vineyard wine with a production of 25 dozen only. It’s grown on vines that are now over 25 years old, growing at 510 metres above sea level.

This is a wine of terrific concentration, power, structure and length. It’s varietal and, from there, it’s just itself. It’s tastes of cherry-plums, woodsmoke, twiggy spice, undergrowth and cedar, though there’s also a suggestion of aromatic, “Italian” herbs. This is a pinot noir to stop you in your tracks. It’s has that silken feel throughout, combined with such insistence on the finish. It’s a fabulous wine. 96 points.
