Chateau Tanunda Heritage Release Old Vine Shiraz 2023

Chateau Tanunda Heritage Release Old Vine Shiraz 2023
$35, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

There are exceptions of course but the age of the vineyard tends to matter in wine. This Barossa shiraz was grown on vines with a minimum of 35 years under their belt. It has very good depth of fruit, sweet-flavoured and bold, with boysenberry, plum, violet and red licorice as the main drivers of flavour. It feels youthful and warm but it also feels ready to drink, the latter courtesy of the fact that everything here feels balanced. 90 points.
