Best Value: Kirrihill Regional Series Shiraz 2022

Kirrihill Regional Series Shiraz 2022 is, at $19, better-than-average value, so long as you’re prepared to give it some air.

In pure quality terms this isn’t as good as the 2023 riesling in the same range. It tastes a bit (too) commercial and the alcohol sticks out a bit. But either decant it or give it a little air, and pretty quickly you start to see the appeal. Raspberry, red licorice, dry spice and bloody, ironstone-like flavours make for a pretty interesting drink. The RRP here is $19 but shop around and you’re in business. There’s sweet, ripe fruit here and plenty of it.
