Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Shiraz 2023

Mattinson review of Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Shiraz 2023

Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Shiraz 2023
$120, 14.0% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

This is a bold shiraz, chocked full of sweet, ripe, dark-berried fruit flavour, but it’s also firm and, indeed, characterful. It tastes of blackcurrant and plum, anise, peppercorn and mint, though there’s a toasty tobacco-like character lingering in the background as well. The net effect of all this a wine off both power and intrigue. It can be enjoyed now for its mouthfilling flavour, or cellared to further explore its complexities. 95 points.
