Allegiance Wines The Foreman Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Review of Allegiance Wines The Foreman Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2023.

Allegiance Wines The Foreman Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
$30, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Coonawarra.

This takes some time to hit its straps, so give it a chance to breathe – or pour it into a jug, and then back into the bottle – before tucking in. It tastes of blackcurrant, gravel, ozone, bay leaves and assorted dried herbs, and it has a good bit of grunt to it, both via its fruit and via its tannin. In fact it has a sinewy, muscular quality to it. It drinks better with food than it does on its own, but it’s a pretty decent wine all around. 90+ points.
