Purple Hands Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2023

Mattinson review of Purple Hands Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2023

Purple Hands Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2023
$40, 14% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

This is a svelte example of this classic blend. It tastes of raspberry and peppercorn, ozone and black cherry, with earth and spice notes tucked neatly and amiably within. Tannin, gently velvety, is well framed, and while there’s some choc-vanilla flavours in play, they are beautifully integrated. Purple Hands’ Barossa GSM has been reliably good (or better) over the past decade or so, and 2023 is another very good release. 92 points.
