Carlei Estate Chardonnay 2012

Mattinson review of Carlei Estate Chardonnay 2012.

Carlei Estate Chardonnay 2012
$59, 13%, screwcap, Yarra Valley.

Only 216 dozen were made, and the wine is now thirteen years old. It’s amazing that any has survived this long and yet survive it has and, indeed, thrive. This is a lovely drink. It’s golden in colour, slipped with tangerine, mandarin and grilled peach flavours, creamy/buttery in both texture and taste, and then honeyed and citrussy through the finish. It is fully mature now, in the best of ways. 92 points.
