Monterra BDX Reserve 2022

Mattinson review of Monterra BDX Reserve 2022.

Monterra BDX Reserve 2022
$45, 14.5%, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot out of McLaren Vale. It offers solid, dark berried flavours in general though there’s some tang to the acidity, a slew of tobacco- and herb-like notes, and a subtle creaminess to the texture. In other words, it’s very cabernet, in the positive sense of the word. Chocolatey notes come to the fore as the wine breathes, making the wine seem fuller and more satisfying, though the dry, herb-flecked structure of the finish holds firm. Solid flavours and solid quality is the take-home message here. 91 points.
