Friends of Friends Shiraz Cabernet 2018

Mattinson review of Friends of Friends Shiraz Cabernet 2018.

Friends of Friends Shiraz Cabernet 2018
$100, 14.5% alcohol, cork, Limestone Coast.

This is a voluptuous wine straight up but then it also has the structure to support it. The end result is a seriously good red wine, in a full-bodied style. Blackcurrant, nori sheets, milk chocolate, dried tobacco, undergrowth and pure plum flavours drive the palate, with orange peel and mint notes as highlights. There are subtle sings of bottle-age development here but it remains inky and deep. This is drinking beautifully right now but there’s certainly no hurry; it has years ahead of it. 95 points.
