Watkins Macclesfield Chardonnay 2021

Mattinson review of Watkins Macclesfield Chardonnay 2021.

Watkins Macclesfield Chardonnay 2021
$50, 12.5% alcohol, screwcap, Adelaide Hills.

This is a wine of uncommon deliciousness. It’s packed with flavour but it still manages to feel both neat and elegant. One sip and you just want to keep diving in for more. It tastes of peach, honey, vanilla pod and apple, with cedarwood oak applied with a light, skilful touch. At four years of age this wine is just starting to edge into its peak drinking years; it will keep drinking (very) well for the next 3-5 years at least. Lovely wine. 93 points.
