467 Twenty Four Rd Blk 3 Chardonnay 2022
AU $80, 12.5% alcohol, screwcap, Margaret River.

This chardonnay is from the cool southern reaches of the Margaret River region. The Block 3 of chardonnay employed here was planted with the Gin Gin Clone in 1998, with a north-south orientation. This wine was barrel fermented in French oak barriques (33% new) and matured in lees for nine months.

Fantastic concentration of flavour and the length – and the complexity – to go with it. This wine is excellent now but it’s going to cellar like a dream. It tastes of grapefruit and lemon curd, grilled peach and honey, with a creamy-vanillin note whispering throughout. The drive of this wine, the flare of those creamed honey notes, and the penetrating resolve of the finish all having this wine driving straight into a parking space reserved for the elite. 95 points.
