Welland 1846 Shiraz 2024
$55, 14.5% alcohol, cork, Barossa Valley.

This sits at the riper, denser, and sweeter end of the Barossa shiraz spectrum and the truth is that it’s an excellent example of this style. It fills the mouth with warm, dark berried flavour, it’s well sustained, and the tannin framework affords the wine good shape. It tastes of blackberry, roasted plum, mocha, earth, resin and dark chocolate, with peppercorn characters helping to lift the wine’s aromas. It’s a warm, generous wine, and a completely satisfying one. 94 points.
