Gentle Folk Scary Gully Chardonnay 2025
AU$75, 13.8% alcohol, DIAM cork, Adelaide Hills.

Chardonnay from a single vineyard at Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills. This vineyard was planted in 1984 and is the highest/coolest site that Gentle Folks works with. Gentle Folk is a Mattinson 10-Star winery.

One sip and I was hooded. This is an outstanding bottle of chardonnay. It’s beautifully flavoured, textured and extended, and it has more than its fair share of X-factor. It tastes of stonefruit, nougat, preserved lemon, umami-like notes and fresh lime, with pine and dill-like characters as whispers. It’s a superb wine to drink. It feels, impacts and extends so appreciably well.

96 points – Campbell Mattinson.
