Monty’s Leap Appleseed Red 2024

Mattinson review of Monty’s Leap Appleseed Red 2024.

Monty’s Leap Appleseed Red 2024
$25, 14.1% alcohol, screwcap, Great Southern.

This is a blend of cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot from the Great Southern region of Western Australia. It’s a medium-weight red with loganberry, black cherry, mulberry and redcurrant flavours flowing attractively through the palate, mint and cut grass notes floating over the top. There’s a whisper of vanilla too, and a good spread of fine-grained tannin. The drinkability factor here is high, and it’s decidedly food-friendly too. 91 points.
