Henschke Marble Angel Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
$80, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

This single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was grown on a vineyard (planted in the 1970s) at Light Pass in the Barossa Valley.

The 2023 vintage is considered excellent but such ratings don’t count for much if it’s not reflected in the glass. In the case of this Henschke Marble Angel Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, the glory of the season is 100% reflected. A stash of this in your cellar would be a very precious thing. The weave of tannin through this wine is so intricate that it’s almost worth the price of admission in itself; especially though because the body of this wine is so well fleshed with blackcurrant, green olives, cedarwood, licorice and choc-cream flavours. There’s a keen momentum to this wine and it carries all the way through to the long run of the finish. It’s medium in weight but the quality here is more than impressive; it’s outstanding. 95+ points.

Henschke is a Mattinson 10-Star winery.
