There are fine-grained wines and there are spice-driven wines, and this is both. There are also delicately poised wines that get the balance precisely right, and this is one of those wines too. This wine tastes of black pepper and black cherry, anise, mint, florals and smoked meat, though the latter characters are subtle. There are some leaf matter and rosewater notes in the mix too, as a distinct positive. This isn’t a heavy or especially deep wine but it’s charming, complex, expertly crafted and beautiful to drink. 94 points.
