Mandala Rock Shiraz 2017

Mattinson review of Mandala Rock Shiraz 2017.

Mandala Rock Shiraz 2017
$80, 14.6% alcohol, screwcap, Yarra Valley.

Grown at Dixon’s Creek in the Yarra Valley. There’s a nutty, floral, meaty edge to this medium-weight, mellow shiraz. Extra years in the bottle – it’s now eight years old – have softened the palate here nicely, though it’s still punchy with warm flavour through the finish. This both smells and tastes good, offering an attractive mix of pure fruit, secondary characters and floral, spice-driven complexities. 91 points.
