AU$242, 14.8% alcohol, screwcap, Grampians.

This wine was great when it was young and, on top of that, age has been kind. It’s in sensational shape now. It exhibits flavours of leather, lavender, anise, black pepper and cedar-smoke, though tobacco and saltbush notes are also present – and, indeed, delicious. This is a powerful wine, and yet a savoury one, and yet a beautifully structured one. It will impress mightily in any setting.
