$150, 14.8% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

This is the most luscious and luxurious of wines. You don’t just drink it; you sink into it. It tastes of blackberry and raspberry jam, fresh red cherries, smoked cedarwood, lashings of choc-mint and bay leaves, with peppercorn-like notes adding even more extras. It’s as complex as it is seductive, creamy and smooth. Tannin has almost completely melted into the fruit, such is the wealth of flavour here. 95 points
