AU$36, 14.1% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

This is a blend of estate-grown Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

I’m not overly familiar with Tapara but I’ve now tasted two of its wines and I know this for certain: Tapara makes lovely wines, to the point where they have quickly turned my head. This wine is complex, fluid, juicy and sure, its flavours of blueberry, plum, pepper and smoked herbs as convincing as they are delicious. There’s tannin here, fine and long but not intrusive. I liked this wine from the first sip but I keep coming back to it and enjoying it yet more. It’s savoury and peppery in style but the fruit itself is generous and buoyant.
