This is a swashbuckling red wine with dark, ripe, berried fruit pumping through the palate, a cloak of smoky oak, a reef of firm tannin and lots of run through the finish. It’s made with cabernet sauvignon and shiraz and while it feels imposing throughout, there’s some softness to the texture and such perfect balance that – even though it’s been built to cellar – it’s drinking well even now, in its youth. It tastes of blackcurrant, plum, leaf-matter, choc-cream, cedar and woodsmoke, all of which combines into a full-bodied wine of genuine beauty. 95 points.
