If you’re looking for a white wine that’s laden with character, this is the wine for you. There’s nothing boring about this wine. It smells and tastes of hay, peach, white pepper, brine, toasted almonds and apple crumble, and while there’s something a bit wild about it all there’s also something neat and well-composed. It throws all the flavours into a bag and throws the bag around, but they remain in the bag – if that makes sense. It finishes with a savoury, almost meaty, umami-laden burst. You’d expect to drink this at a fine-diner; it has that extra what-is-that something.
