Vinya Vella Old Bush Vine Grenache 2024
$65, 14.5% alcohol, DIAM cork, Barossa Valley.

Old vines, here, means Vine Vale – a Barossa bush-vine vineyard pushing 120 years old.

What I love is the raspberried burst of sweet fruit sitting dead centre of this wine, wrapped in savoury spice. Neither cancels the other out. Sweetness isn't weakness here, and savouriness isn't mere virtue – the joy of this wine is the way in which it holds and weaves both. Pristine fruit, firm tannin, buoyant aroma, an old sea bed of herbs, spice and dried citrus rind; it’s exotic, it’s real, it’s more. 96 points – Campbell Mattinson.
