Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Gris 2025

Review of Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Gris 2025.

Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Gris 2025
$26, 12.7% alcohol, screwcap, Yarra Valley.

The best Pinot Gris in Australia is also the best value. That was the line that came to mind when I first tasted this wine. I’d have to go back through my records to see if this wine is actually my favourite Australian gris but fair to say a) that it’s right up there and b) that it’s an absolute ripper. All for 26 bucks. It has a copper-pink blush to its colour, it has genuine mouthfeel and/or texture, it delivers flavour in an easy-going way and yet it’s all straightened up by well-judged acidity. It also runs long through the finish. I don’t rave about gris too often. I’m raving about this one. I even suspect that it will be a better drink again in a year or two. 94 points.
