Bodega Piedra Negra Malbec Reserve 2021

Bodega Piedra Negra Malbec Reserve 2021

Bodega Piedra Negra Malbec Reserve 2021 is an excellent value wine.

Piedra Negra Malbec Reserve 2021 is $12 from Aldi. That’s pretty much the headline and the review, given that the wine in the glass tastes ripe, soft, rich-enough and is absolutely, positively drinkable. And indeed enjoyable. If you see this wine and value is top of mind, grab a bottle. The fruit is a bit raisined but there’s a lovely dryness to the finish and while in general the flavours feel clean as a whistle, it’s just a bit characterful too. You won’t get much better at $12.

Malbec just for the record is one of the hero grapes of Argentina, which is where this wine is from. It’s probably the hero grape, arguably. Argentinian malbec is often a happy hunting ground for value too.
