Little Giant Buttery Chardonnay 2025
AU$20, 13% alcohol, screwcap, Adelaide Hills.

If you put the word “buttery” aside for a second and just assess this as a chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills, it scores good marks. It tastes of pear, nectarine and spiced peaches and it feels fresh and well-honed throughout. There is then a modest “buttery” overtone, with smoked bacon notes attached, though it doesn’t get in the way of the generally fresh feel. In any case this drinks pretty well, and is definitely good value.
