$28, 14% alcohol, screwcap, Wrattonbully.

If you like a bit of pepper in your shiraz, as many do, then you’ll enjoy this wine. It’s cool climate in style, in that it’s alive with black/white pepper, capsicum, tobacco and general twiggy spice notes, but then there’s also a medium-weight fruitiness in play, which helps to keep those spice notes marching along. It’s enjoyable. A whisper of vanilla adds some cream to the mouthfeel. This wine is light in shiraz terms but it drinks nicely. 90 points.
