Allegiance Wines Coonawarra Unity Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Review of Allegiance Wines Coonawarra Unity Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Allegiance Wines Coonawarra Unity Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
$120, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Coonawarra.

There’s a nice lick of tannin through the back half of this wine but in general it’s a soft and seductive take on Coonawarra cabernet. It tastes of blackcurrant, spearmint, red licorice, vanilla-cream and bay leaves, with all of its components feeling harmonious and, indeed, more-ish. This wine can easily be consumed now but it will be better with another couple of years under its belt, and it will then drink well for a decade. There’s a gentle bracken-like note to the aftertaste which those extra couple of years in bottle will sort out nicely. 93 points.
