Moppity Block C11B Gewurztraminer 2023

Mattinson review of Moppity Gewurztraminer Block C11B 2023

Moppity Block C11B Gewurztraminer 2023
$45, 12.5% alcohol, screwcap, Tumbarumba.

They only made 117 dozen of this and so, given its quality, that pretty much means that every bottle is precious. This is a sizzling gewurztraminer, full of personality and yet in no way overdone, or OTT, or oily, and anything of the like. Even the aroma seems restrained, unusual for the variety, though it smells floral enough, and the palate is then a dry, slatey, characterful powerhouse, with lime, lychee, gravel and riverstone characters running throughout, and lemon myrtle notes rising as it breathes. This is a wine that would soar with food. It’s a keen, dry, persistent, sophisticated white with pebbles, lemons and floral characters delivered confidently throughout. 94 points.
