Tenafeate Creek One Tree Hill Montepulciano 2023

Mattinson review of Tenafeate Creek One Tree Hill Montepulciano 2023.

Tenafeate Creek One Tree Hill Montepulciano 2023
$35, 14% alcohol, screwcap, Mount Lofty Ranges zone.

There’s a lot going on with this wine. In many (and most) ways it’s generous and abundant, its flavour of raspberry, redcurrant, smoked meats and peppercorns given an attractive coating of cedarwood, malt and woodsmoke. Everyone will love the general flavour profile of this wine. The finish of this wine is a slightly different story; it’s dry, serious, stern almost, and tickled with a nut-shell bitterness, almost amaro-like. It’s starts off fun but then turns very grown up. It’s a wine to be reckoned with. It should cellar well too. 91 points.
