Kooyong Sous Voile Chardonnay (2025 release)
This is a bottle image of Kooyong Estate Chardonnay. The wine I’m reviewing is not this one, but the label design is similar to it (but with the words Sous Voile on it).

$36 per 375ml, 13% alcohol, screwcap, Mornington Peninsula.
I don’t have a bottle image for this wine nor, indeed, information. I assume that it’s NV (or multi-vintage) simply because I couldn’t find a vintage on the label, other than “bottled in 2025”. Sous voile means “under the veil”, usually of flor, often using a solera or similar system. Hence the wine’s likely multi-vintage status. Phew.
Cedarwood oak, pine needles, peach, custard powder, preserved lemon and sweet cashew. And smoked spices. There’s a lot going on here, oak perhaps a bit too dominant, but it feels plush and it tastes rich, and there’s no shortage of length. All told, it’s interesting, and enjoyable, if not outstanding. 92 points.
