Faustino Rivero Ulecia Rioja Organic Tempranillo 2024

Mattinson reviews a bottle of Faustino Rivero Ulecia Rioja Organic Tempranillo 2024.

Faustino Rivero Ulecia Rioja Organic Tempranillo 2024
$35, 13.5% alcohol, screwcap, Rioja/Spain.

This is one of those semi-light wines that somehow manages to get under your skin. It’s the combination of open-weave fruit and dry, spicy tannin that does it; it’s the wine equivalent of the loud/soft combination that’s so effective in music. This wine tastes of stewed red cherries, balsamic notes, leather and blood orange, and while the fruit itself could be brighter/fresher the finish is sound and satisfying. 90 points.
