Pierro Chardonnay 2023

Pierro Chardonnay 2023
$120, 14% alcohol, screwcap, Margaret River.

I’ve come across this wine three times over the course of the past eight months, and every time it has impressed, seriously. It’s the combination of overt power and absolute control that does it. It tastes of grilled stonefruits, pears, nougat and oak spice, though it also has a quartz-like aspect to the finish, and some flashes of crystallised citrus. It’s an outstanding chardonnay. Long, powerful and meticulous. Indeed it’s arguably one of the best Pierro chardonnays ever. 96 points.
