Colours of the South Rosso 2023

Colours of the South Rosso 2023
$35, 13.5% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

This is a blend of montepulciano, aglianico and negroamaro grapes.

Last year’s release was excellent and this release, again, is bang on. This is both ridiculously drinkable – and more-ish – and yet complex at the same time. It almost feels like sleight-of-hand. Pencil, chocolate, red and black cherries and suede leather flavours, all pulled together by silty tannin and mouthwatering acidity. It tastes so good. It finishes with a lovely dryness. It’s a treat of a wine. 94 points.
