Bicknell FC Applecross Chardonnay 2024
A$65, 13.1% alcohol, screwcap, Yarra Valley.

Sourced from the Diamond Valley Vineyards/Punch site at St Andrews in the Yarra Valley — a vineyard (planted over 40 years ago) whose quality speaks for itself, and which needs no further introduction. Just 174 dozen were made. It was fermented with ambient natural yeast, and aged in 25% new oak.

The concentration of fruit flavour here is stunning, genuinely. Straight up, this wine is as impressive as you will encounter. Pear, grapefruit, tinned peach and lime characters dominate, with subtle flint and nougat playing supporting roles. The freshness of this wine. The vigour. The swagger. The lot. 96 points – Campbell Mattinson.
