This is luscious, rich and warm. It tastes of vanilla cream, redcurrant, mint and washes of boysenberry, apple, fragrant herbs and peppercorn. Its oak-driven creaminess is more evident on the nose than it is on the palate, though the mouthfeel here is also soft and smooth. It then finishes with a warm spread of fine-grained tannin. You have to enjoy the influence of vanillin oak flavour but with that caveat, there’s a whole lot to appreciate here.
