Blue Star by RedCote Cabernet Shiraz 2022
AU$88, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Great Western/Grampians.

This wine spent 48 months in oak; which is a long time in anyone’s winemaking language.

Oak flavour has integrated impressively here. In fact, flavour-wise, oak and fruit now present as one. This tastes of plums, mint, salted herbs and toast, with leather and cream characters helping to smooth everything out. The tannin here is where things get interesting: this wine is assertively tannic, the result being a finish that’s grippy and dry.
