Peppercorn by RedCote Shiraz 2022
AU$88, 14.8% alcohol, screwcap, Great Western, Victoria

This wine spent 48 months (four years) in oak.

This is a substantial red wine, thick with flavour, tannin and velvet. It tastes of plums, cream, mint, pepper and twiggy spice notes, with subtle suede-leather characters helping to keep everything running smoothly. Oak makes a clear impression on both the flavour and the texture, and there’s a wide spread of dry, grippy tannin in play too. It’s heftier and oakier than is customary for Great Western shiraz, but it has plenty of merit.
