McIntyre Vineyards Estate Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

Mattinson review of McIntyre Vineyards Estate Vineyard Chardonnay 2021.

McIntyre Vineyards Estate Vineyard Chardonnay 2021
14.2% alcohol, cork, Santa Lucia Highlands AVA/California.

McIntyre Estate Vineyard lies in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA – originally planted in 1973 – has some of the region’s oldest chardonnay vines. This 2021 estate release is a wine of tension, herb notes, brine and cedar. There’s some grip to this wine, some pulp, both of which promote a keen sense of purpose. There's intent here, and a controlled richness, and tinned peach flavours infused with brine and woodsmoke. It’s an impressive wine all round. 94 points.
