$40, 14.5% alcohol, cork, Cotes du Rhone, France.

This wine is fluid and fresh but there’s also a thickness to the flavour, which is a good thing. It all makes for both more-ish and satisfying drinking. It tastes of redcurrant and aromatic herbs, tar and roses, with malt and ironstone notes adding that bit extra. It finishes dry and well-shaped; good form all around. 91 points.
