Bottle of Chalk Hill Alpha Crucis Antares Shiraz 2024.

Chalk Hill Alpha Crucis Antares Shiraz 2024
$165, 14% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

This is a wine of pure joy. It’s medium in weight, beautifully structured, bright fruited and exotically perfumed. It’s powerful but not thick, textured but not soupy. If you sat next to this wine at a party it would keep you entertained all night. It tastes of raspberries, plums, orange rind, sweet earth and peppers, with toasty. cedarwood, smoky oak as a gentle infusion. Even the tannin of this wine brings flavour along with it; ripe but not overdone. Everything about this wine, from all angles, is beautiful. 96 points.
