Cristobal Barrel Selection Mendoza Malbec 2020
$60, 14.5% alcohol, DIAM cork, Mendoza/Spain.

This wine has been built to last, or to age, but it’s in a beautiful drinking place right now. In the zone, is the executive summary here. It tastes of leather and iodine, black cherry and cocoa, with rust, earth, tobacco-like herbs and floral notes adding character and highlights. Tannin is firm and grainy – the latter like an old photograph of something precious. This is a rustic pleasure, in the best sense of the words. 93 points.
