$35, 13.5% alcohol, screwcap, Tasmania.

This is a medium-weight, herb-strewn red wine with redcurrant, raspberry, peppercorns and fresh red cherry flavours as the drivers. It has a slightly bitter, tonic-like edge but it’s offset ably by forest berry and wintergreen characters. It tastes like a wine from a cool climate, a point aided by its long, slender shape as it passes through your mouth. It’s a wine of shadows and highlights, like a walk through a forest on a sunny day. It will age well. 90 points.
