Talk about good. De Bortoli has pulled out a very interesting wine here; a nebbiolo that tastes like nebbiolo, comes with a rich vein of tannin, is well extended through the finish, is light but simultaneously insistent, and – after all that – is well priced. Indeed this wine is now the instant Australian market leader for nebbiolo value. It tastes of red cherries, rose petals, a touch of both peppercorn and general sweet spice, and then a flash of fresh leather. It’s lovely. It’s the wine the Australian nebbiolo landscape desperately needed. 92 points.
