Iggy Phoenix Syrah 2022

Iggy Phoenix Syrah 2022
$100, 14.5% alcohol, DIAM cork, Eden Valley.

This is a superb red wine from the Eden Valley. It’s rich, structured, presents a wild array of flavours and, to its core, is essentially delicious. It tastes of blackcurrant and plum, violets and sweet spices, blueberries, roasted meats and mint. There’s a slip of smoky, cedar-like flavour and a rolling thunder of (integrated) tannin. This is a dramatic red wine, both youthful and intense. You could drink this now but really, it’s been set for the long haul. 95 points.
